HOW TO GET AN ACCOUNT ON UHILLS.ORG

The uhills.org website is maintained by ICHA and the HRB for the benefit of current University Hills residents.  Some website content is visible to the public, without requiring a login account.  Other content, such as forum discussions,  contractor referrals, and facility reservations, is restricted, and is only visible to logged-in users.  Website content is managed by the HRB, while ICHA staff assist with administration and oversight.

To streamline the management of website membership, there are several categories of user accounts:

(Resident) Primary Accounts: Each household in University Hills has a designated primary contact, who is typically the qualifying University-associated resident, based on ICHA’s records.  On uhills.org, this person is designated as a “primary” resident, and has the authority to approve other resident accounts associated with the same household.  For example, a primary resident can approve the creation of accounts for a spouse or roommate living at the same address.  Requests to establish a primary account are moderated by ICHA staff by comparing the request against ICHA’s resident contact database.

(Resident) Secondary Accounts: Resident accounts that are created at the discretion of the primary household contact are designated as “secondary” accounts.  Secondary accounts cannot approve the creation of other accounts, but otherwise have the same access privileges.  Requests to establish a secondary account are moderated by the associated primary account-holder.

Former Residents: Both “primary” and “secondary” accounts are intended for current University Hills residents only.  When a primary account-holder moves out, their account and the accounts of any associated secondary household members will be recategorized as “former resident” accounts.  Some content may remain accessible to former residents, while other content may no longer be accessible to them.

Administrators: Some residents may be granted expanded administrative and/or authorship privileges allowing them to edit or create website content, as deemed appropriate by the HRB.

HOW TO REQUEST A PRIMARY ACCOUNT

If you are the primary qualifying household member for your home, click “Request an Account” (near the top right of the main page header) and then “Request Primary Account”.  Enter the requested information, and press the button at the bottom of the form to submit.  You will receive an email confirmation of your pending request.  Once ICHA staff review your request, you will receive an additional email informing you that your request was approved (or denied).  If approved, the email will include login instructions.

Most of the form fields are self-explanatory, but please note:

your username: You can request a specific username, but it must be unique, and, once created, cannot be changed without deleting your account and starting over.  We recommend usernames of the form {first-initial}{middle-initial}{last-name}, but you may need to choose a slightly different username if your initial choice is already in use.  You will be able to log in using EITHER your email address or your username.  Your email address can be changed in the future, but your username is permanent.

street address: Please choose street number and street name from the dropdown menu.

HOW TO REQUEST A SECONDARY ACCOUNT

If you are a resident, but not the primary qualifying household member for your home, then click “Request an Account” (near the top right of the main page header) and then “Request Secondary Account”.  Enter the requested information, and then submit.  You will receive an email confirmation of your pending request.  Your request will be forwarded to the designated primary resident, and once that person approves or denies your request, you will receive an additional email notification.  If your request is approved, the notification email will include login instructions.

primary account holder’s email:  If you designate an email address that is not currently associated with a primary account-holder, then your request will be ignored.  If the specified email does belong to a current primary account-holder, then your request will be forwarded to that email address for approval.  If you do not know the email address of the primary account-holder, then you should ask that person directly.  ICHA staff are not responsible for managing secondary account requests.
