June 28th from 8am-12pm
UCI Emergency Management is reaching out to the University Hills community for assistance with this exercise and is searching for 40 volunteers from the University Hills Community to assist these efforts. Volunteers will be playing the role of University Hills residents that are being required to evacuate under this simulated event. Those “evacuees” will receive the emergency notifications throughout the incident and will be given instructions to report to a designated TAP location across from the University Hills Community Center (by no later than 9:15 AM) and transported by either Anteater Express or US Coachway busses to a designated Care and Reception area (Anteater Recreation Center). At the care and reception center, volunteers will be briefed on the concept of a Care and Reception/Shelter area, what resources would be available to them, and will also be given an opportunity to provide feedback. Volunteers will also be provided lunch and transportation back to the Community Center (by 11:45 AM) following the exercise.
UCI Emergency Management believe this exercise will greatly increase our campuses’ preparedness for an evacuation event at UCI and greatly appreciates the assistance of our University Hill community partners in our efforts. If you are interested in participating in this exercise, please visit https://uci.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9yjNyIu1kSVssya to register by June 15th.
Additional information will be provided on June 22nd via a zoom meeting once we have a complete list of volunteers. If you want to learn more about the new mass evacuation procedures and evacuation zones, visit the EM website at https://em.uci.edu.
