University Hills is the home of the Narwhals, a summer youth swim team for University Hills residents. View the team website at: www.uhillsnarwhals.org.
We view this team not only as a great swimming experience but also a way to make friendships, strengthen positive values, and build a stronger community. Please see our mission and vision statements below, or visit our team page.
The Narwhals will train late afternoons during the season, Monday to Friday, at the Coltrane Pool (times TBD late afternoon). Narwhals will be adhering to the protocols and procedures developed by the Irvine Swim League in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Though coaching is provided, this is not a “learn to swim” program. All swimmers should be water safe to join the program. Basic requirements for participating thus include (a) living in University Hills, (b) meeting the age requirement, and (c) being water safe. Children are encouraged to participate the whole summer but can join the team even if they have to miss certain weeks or certain days of the week.
We are also looking for assistant coaches, volunteer coaches, and volunteers to serve on the board of directors, so please contact us about these possibilities as well.
Thank you to ICHA, HRB, and University Hills residents for warmly embracing this new team. We appreciate your support. We are looking forward to seeing your children on the Narwhals team this summer!
