Sustainability Book Club is back!
Our first read of the season will be a new book by our own Rebecca Tuhus-Dubrow:
The New Nuclear Evangelists and the Fight for the Future of Energy
Nuclear power has always been a controversial energy source. It has long been considered dangerous and dirty, but some scientists now say it is an essential tool in the fight against climate change.
Becca has written a book exploring these complex issues through the story of California’s last operational nuclear plant, Diablo Canyon, and the fight over whether to close it or keep it open. The book was named one of the “best books we read this week” by the New Yorker and a notable new book on the environment by the Financial Times.
The book club meeting will take place on October 19, 5 – 7 pm in the Media Center. Feel free to bring a snack to share (no peanuts/nut oils, please).
Rebecca Tuhus-Dubrow is a freelance journalist and author, resident of University Hills, and Sustainability Committee member.
