Community Barbecues and Parks
All the common facilities in University Hills are available on a first come first served basis unless a reservation has been booked and approved. Approved reservations will have completed the reservation form found at the ICHA office and then posted it onsite five days prior to the event. Residents are encouraged to review the event calendar here for previously approved events when planning for the future.
Reservations should consist of groups of at least ten persons or more and are available at no charge to residents when at least 1/3 of the participants are residents. Reservations for the Lower, Upper and Gabrielino Pool areas are made for the BBQ spaces and adjacent seating only and do not actually include exclusive use of the pool. Once a reservation is made no other reservations for that area will be accepted but each reservation is only for use of 50% of available barbecues. Other residents may use the remaining barbecues but common sense and courtesy should apply.
If a function will involve a third party vendor (bounce house, caterer) a certificate of liability insurance and endorsement naming the Irvine Campus Housing Authority and the Regents for the University of California as an additional insured is required ($1,000,000).
Reservation requests for the community parks and barbeques may be made here online, by emailing email@example.com or calling 824-2424. The facility reservation form must be completed and posted on the appropriate park barbecue bulletin board by the resident no fewer than five days prior to the event. Reservation forms must be completed by the resident at the ICHA office located at 1083 California Avenue.
Reservations for the Community Center (Social Center, two Activity Rooms and the Community Room) are processed differently than those for the community parks and depending on the nature of the event may require a fee, deposit, janitorial services and basic insurance indemnification requirements. The Social Center is open for walk in use from 9 AM to 2 PM Monday thru Friday and 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Residents are able to use any of the Social Center amenities without a reservation or prior notice on a first come first served basis. Reservations for exclusive use are accepted after the daily walk in period and up until 10:00pm each evening. Reservations must be made seven days in advance so we may schedule the Community Service Officer (CSO). The CSO is a campus police liaison and onsite after ICHA business hours to assist with basic facility needs. If there is no reservation the Social Center remains open to walk in use throughout the day and up until 8:00 PM each evening.
Courts & Fields
Guidelines for reservation of athletic facilities (basketball court, volleyball court, softball/soccer fields, tennis courts, etc.) vary. The tennis courts are not reservable, and their use is on a strictly first-come, first-serve basis. Others are reservable, subject to guidelines published under the amenity descriptions. All use, whether walk-up or reserved, is subject to a 1/3 minimum resident participation threshold. Inquiries regarding potential use requests should be directed to email@example.com.
