University Hills Community Center Information
The University Hills Community Center is available for the exclusive use by University Hills residents, the HRB and the Irvine Campus Housing Authority. Any proposed events that is not specifically for the University Hills community, the HRB or ICHA may be allowed but requires approval and comes with an increase in the fees. A private resident event should be specific to the resident immediate family.
1) The Social Center– The Social Center is a single building but two rooms (Social Center / Media Room) that can be separated by interior sliding doors. Both rooms are covered within a UCI Net ID Wireless Computer Network and share a small service bar which includes countertop space, sink and small refrigerator.
Social Center Lounge – The lounge has comfortable seating, several card tables, a gas fireplace and a 50” plasma television.
Media Room – The media room offers an ipod docking station, amplified sound system, universal player, 50’ plasma television and a 105” drop down screen with a digital projector. This room may be used as a movie theatre, classroom or for presentations.
The Social Center is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday thru Friday and 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Residents are able to use any of the Social Center amenities without a reservation or prior notice on a first come first served basis. A walk in period has been established for this purpose and extends from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday and 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
Walk in use should be limited to small groups of no more than 8 guests unless previously approved. Reservations for exclusive use are accepted after the daily walk in period and up until 10:00pm each evening.
Reservations for any Community center room must be made seven days in advance so we may schedule the Community Service Officer (CSO), janitorial and other like services. The CSO is a campus police liaison and onsite after ICHA business hours to assist with basic facility needs.
2) The Event Building– This building is comprised of the Activity Room(s) and the a large multipurpose Community Room with attached kitchen. Both rooms are available on a reservation basis only. Reservations are accepted Monday – Friday 9:00am to 10:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm.
The Activity Rooms may be used as one large space or divided into two individual rooms via a center acoustical divider. Each room has an iPod dock, amplified sound system, counter space, a small utility sink and access and use of the adjacent kitchen is possible. Each room includes 4 tables and 16 chairs.
The Community Room offers a large interior space and direct access to a service kitchen and counter. The use area may be significantly enlarged by opening the exterior walls to adjoining covered patio areas. There are currently 4 tables and 64 chairs available for use within this space. The Event Building and adjoining open areas are covered within a UCI Net ID Wireless Computer Network.
Reservations for the Social Center and Event Building rooms are made in three hour blocks. Depending on the nature of the event planned there may be a use fee, deposit and insurance endorsement requirement.
