After checking out plumbers on the Uni Hills site, I decided to contact Marty of Martin Plumbing Company. He was easy to reach and also very responsible in setting up a shifting schedule. He put on shoe guards (when he noticed shoes in the entryway), started working right away, and managed to quickly figure what had caused the cold water faucet to suddenly stop working. (Workers who had replaced pipes running through the fire-damaged garage apparently left solder material and debris in the new pipes, which in turn ripped up the disc cartridge in this faucet closest to the garage.) Marty set aside the debris and parts (for when I contact the contractor) and alerted me to what may be necessary if the problem recurs in one of the other faucets.
I found him very personable, highly professional, and easy to work with, and his fees were reasonable, too.
