The Cooking Lessons are demos of preparing one food or a group of foods. They occur approximately once a week and are held in the Community Center kitchen. They are open to anyone in Uhills on a first-come first-serve basis.

August 11, 2011 – Annie Kirkby – Pressure Cooker cooking
Love slow-cooked food but never have the time to prepare it? Then a pressure cooker is for you. We'll make Osso Bucco (Braised Veal Shanks) from start to melt-in-your-mouth finish in just 45 minutes. While it cooks, we'll make and eat two unique and tasty appetizers.
August 17, 2011 – Linda & Albert Zlotnik – Adobo sauce
They will be making a Mexican dish called adobo. This is a sauce in which one can cook pork and summer squash.
August 25, 2011 – Taylor Wright – fruit pie
Taylor Wright, a professional pastry cook, will describe and provide samples of 4 different kinds of pie crust and will make a fruit pie from scratch.
August 31, 2011 – Sophie Wickramasinghe & Dominique Jorion – Mediterranean Vegetarian Fare: Delicious and Nutritious
- TABOULI – a refreshing salad made with wholewheat couscous, lots of fresh herbs, lemon juice, tomatoes and cucumbers, from North Africa.
- FALAFEL – a super-food alternative to meat – a mix of garbanzo beans and various goodies. This will be accompanied by a tahini sauce. An Israeli staple and a healthy snack for kids and adults!
- TZATZIKI DIP – A Greek favorite made with yogurt and cucumbers, a great dip delicious with lavash and pita breads.
