Attendees:  Michele Walot, Julia Wan, Mike McNally, Jan Fisher, Andrew Herndon, Ron Reid, and Jeff Beckwith

The Swimming Pool Committee met at the end of last month.  The information discussed at this meeting was given to the HRB.  Major requests of ICHA management include: installation of a fob (electronic key) system for all pools; putting 3 minute timers on the showers with reduced water temperatures, and encouraging ICHA management to add a third employee to the community management team.  The board received the committee’s report and will forward these recommendations to ICHA for comment.

ICHA’s “Coffee on Us” was attended by ICHA management, members of the HRB, and over 35 members of the University Hills community.  This casual interface offered an excellent opportunity for information exchange and questions to be fielded by ICHA staff.  ICHA will sponsor these coffees on a quarterly basis; the next coffee is tentatively scheduled for early March 2013.

The Holiday Bazaar is Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 9:00 until 4:00 p.m.  Thanks are directed to Marta Crane for her coordination efforts in bringing together this display and sales opportunity to purchase items created by residents of University Hills.  The HRB is providing coffee for this event.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will visit the community center on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Cookies, juice, and coffee will be served.  Parents are encouraged to bring some of their favorite holiday cookies to share as well.  The event will have piano music, a capella singing by the Footnotes of University High School, and presents for the little ones from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The New Year’s Eve Party plans continue to go forward.  The event is BYOB (bring your own bottle) and will run from 7:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.  Cost is $20.00 per adult and $5.00 per child under 16.  A buffet dinner will be served for the adults and pizza for the kids.  Movies will be shown in the lounge area for the children.  Baby sitters will be on hand to help supervise.  Look for advertisements on the listserv and also at uhills.org for the event.  Tickets may be purchased through PayPal.  For those wishing to attend after 9:00 p.m., tickets are $15.00.  See the link on either site for all details.

A request for a meeting about changes in Medicare and Health Care will be referred to Jeri Frederick on campus.  Ms. Frederick coordinates all the retirement activities for UCI retirees.

A request for painting trim on a house was declined by the HRB and will be referred back to the homeowner with a request to select another color.  Palette colors were reviewed and discussed by the HRB that would be acceptable as complementary and compatible with the neighborhood and architectural guidelines.

The board will attempt to heat the Gabrielino and Los Trancos pools for the entire winter depending on budgetary review on a monthly basis.  The upper Urey pool will be turned off in early December with the Jacuzzi remaining heated.

Elections for the HRB will take place in February.  Later this month and into January calls for nominees will be taken.  Further information will be posted on the listserv and at Uhills.org.  A minimum of three seats will be open.
